DPS is the most contentious role for the prestige of role star. With many different options and only four places it was a highly anticipated announcement. At the beginning of the Friday match in the Watchpoint pre-show the the two NA and two APAC DPS role stars were announced.
Lee ‘LIP’ Jaewon
It is no surprise the that MVP candidate from the Atlanta Reign nabbed a role star award. His performance on multiple heroes this year has helped propel the Reign to winning the Midseason Madness and into the Playoffs. Not only did his Sombra plat define an era, but he was able to be that leader that the players needed. His top performance was reflected in his numbers throughout the season.
Jeong ‘Stalk3r’ Hakyong
Stalk3r, who was a rookie last year on the Seoul Dynasty, has come out of the shadow of Park ‘Profit’ Junyoung and stepped into his own. He has shown that he is able to stand out along side huge names and win. Stalk3r on Tracer got the top spot in all of the categories. There has always been a battle within the league of who is the best Tracer, from SBB to Profit, it seems as if there is a new player at that top spot.
Kim ‘Zest’ Hyunwoo
Zest was a standout player in the APAC region. The meta fit around Zest and his synergy with the team. He had top stats in his Mei play that had 19.5 elimination per 10 minutes when he was on the hero. But the fact that the high elimination with one of the lowest deaths, made him such a scary DPS for any APAC team to face. Zest was a solid member of the Seoul Infernal this season.
Xin ‘Leave’ Huang
Leave is a DPS player that had many accolades last season. He continued on in Season 6, not on the Chengdu Hunters, but the Hangzhou Spark. The team had some rocky periods, but they could always lean upon Leave to carry them. It is great to see that Leave continues to be acknowledged for his hard work. He shows that he is dedicated on staying on top in the APAC region as a top-tier DPS.
DPS Role Star
The DPS role star was slightly controversial, but in the end all the players deserved the high award. All four DPS role stars are still in the playoffs (as of the writing of this article) so it will be interesting to see when they will face off. Congratulations and good luck to all the Season 6 DPS role stars.
