League of Legends Wild Rift’s official Twitter page has put out this tweet, showing off Irelia’s new gameplay in Wildrift. Irelia is a staple amongst Ionian champions and has a huge fan base transferring over from League PC.
This powerful blade centered champion is excellent for one on ones in the Baron and Mid lane. And soon she will be dominating the Rift. Her first unconfirmed release was yesterday, but that tweet only displayed a picture of one of her blades. Now Riot is showing off her full gameplay. This is just in time for the Chinese Alpha release coming in the next few weeks.
For anyone unfamiliar with Irelia, she’s a bruiser damage carry, who excels at snowballing a lead thanks to her first ability, Bladesurge. This ability dashes Irelia forward, refreshing its cooldown when hitting a marked target or if the target dies to Bladesurge. The majority of her kits revolve around this skill, since both her ultimate, Vanguard’s Edge, and her third ability, Flawless Duet, mark enemies when hit. Flawless duet throws out two blades, stunning those in between them. While Vanguard’s edge flings a massive number of blades, exploding upon impact with an enemy champion. Her second ability, defiant dance, reduces damage, and her passive, Ionian Fervor, increases her attack speed for each ability hit. These combo wonderfully together, highly incentivizing aggressive play on the champion.
In Conclusion
Irelia’s confirmation for Wildrift has fans and commentators alike speculating on the next champions to be released alongside her. Many believe more Ionian champions such as Karma or Shen will follow the Blade Dancer to the Rift while other’s have speculated that Irelia’s rivals such as Sion will also appear. With six champions coming out every patch it could be all of the above and then some.
