Wide receiver Davante Adams has informed the Raiders that he would prefer to be traded according to NFL Network. Here are five potential trade destinations for Davante Adams.
1. New York Jets
The Jets have a narrow Super Bowl window with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. They need to win and win big in the next season or two. While they have the defense in place to have success, the offense can be improved. Adams being familiar with Rodgers only helps the Jets’ chances.
It is being reported that the Raiders want a second-round pick and more for Adams. The Jets could afford that price and should want to do that trade. New York has draft capital and Adams can impact winning more than most second-round picks. If Rodgers pushes for it, Adams could create a nice pair between himself and Garrett Wilson.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh was a team heavily involved in the Brandon Aiyuk trade rumors this offseason. A trade didn’t end up getting done, but it is clear the Steelers want a receiver. The offense has a new quarterback in Justin Fields, but he could benefit from a target to go with young wide receiver George Pickens.
The Steelers have gotten off to a hot start this season. Their defense has played well, but they could use more output from their offense if they seriously want to compete. Whether the Steelers feel like they have a roster ready to compete could be up for debate and that could make the asking price too high for them. The fit is there though if they want to go for it.
3. Washington Commanders
Washington has also started the year off better than many expected they would. While their defense has been an issue, the offense looks great with Jayden Daniels at quarterback. The team has Terry McLaurin at receiver, but no other proven commodities.
With the acquisition of Adams, Daniels could develop and continue to play well with two go-to receivers. The NFC East looks more open than projected with both the Cowboys and Eagles having some struggles early. Washington could part with some draft capital to make the move work.
4. Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore is currently 2-2 on the season, after starting off slow. Their defense is coming along, while the offense is running the ball well. They have a shifty receiver in Zay Flowers, but could go after another proven receiver to help Lamar Jackson in the postseason.
The Ravens have invested a lot in the wide receiver room in the draft. While Flowers has worked out, a lot of their picks haven’t. By trading for Adams, they know what they’ll be getting and he can help them compete for a Super Bowl. The Ravens can give up draft capital because they have a roster that can compete.
5. Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are 2-2 right now. Their defense has been a mess. Dak Prescott has been operating the offense well. They really need defensive help and some help in the backfield at running back, but also could get another wide receiver to help things out.
CeeDee Lamb is one of the best receivers in the game, but he has lacked someone else in the wide receiver room who can produce on a large scale. Adams can fill that role and cover up some of the Cowboys’ other deficiencies. Dallas can trade the draft capital if they want to win this year.
