Super Bowl 56 Champion Obo Okoronkwo will be on his third team in three years when the 2023 season begins. He has reportedly reached a deal with the Browns, worth $19 million over three years. The contract guarantees $12.5 million and gives him a chance to earn up to $22 million.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Okoronkwo was a 2018 fifth round selection by the Los Angeles Rams. His time their was mired by injury as he found himself on injured reserve and PUP lists more than once. He did receive a Super Bowl ring after the Rams won Super Bowl LVI.
Last season, in 17 games (eight starts), Okoronkwo defended two passes, forced one fumble, had 44 combined tackles and also collected five sacks. His sacks and tackles were both career highs. The defensive end now has an incentive-laden contract with Cleveland, who hopes to be more competitive for the AFC North this season.
