Frank Vatrano recorded three points in his first all-star game.
The 29 year old Vatrano was drafted to Team Hughes on Thursday night. A team captained by Jack and Quinn Hughes as well as their celebrity captain Michale Buble.
Team Hughes would lose to Team Matthews 6-5. Vatrano did all he could to aid his team. His three points included a breakaway goal, another off of an Elias Pettersson assist, and his own assist. He also recorded the only hit of the NHL All-Star game.
It was Team Matthews who would win the whole tournament after they beat team McDavid 7-4 in the final round.
Frank “The Tank” as he has been called by Ducks on their social media platforms, will join his teammates Friday at the Honda Center where they will host the Oilers. The Ducks come in on a four game point streak as they look to stay hot after some time off. Edmonton was not given such rest as they start their southwest trip on Tuesday against the Vegas Golden Knights. The oil is heating in Edmonton as they have won 16 straight games going into the All-Star break. They are third in the Pacific currently in the standings.
Anaheim has their work cut out for them in the second half as they are 16 points away from the last wild card spot. The Ducks continue to battle without key players Alex Killorn, Pavel Mintyukov, and Trevor Zegras, who will all hopefully return late this month or next.
Puck drop for Friday’s matchup is at 10:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. PST on BSSD, BSSC, and NHL Power Play on ESPN+
