To say that Pokemon TCG Pocket has been a success would be an understatement. It is the most downloaded game in the world since its launch and has been making The Pokemon Company hundreds of millions of dollars. But there is a major portion of the game that has yet to be added, trading. So this begs the question, when will Trading come to Pokemon TCG Pocket?
The only thing that was mentioned or really even rumored about trading after the initial launch was that it would be coming to Pokemon TCG Pocket sometime in January.
Well as of writing this, we are over a week into January and there have been no announcements. In truth, there were rumors of a completely new set of cards in January as well. But so far, The Pokemon Company has been silent. This is pretty similar to how they have acted since Pokemon Day back in 2024.
Once the Tera Leaks were released, Pokemon has been radio silent. It is not a huge surprise as they are likely changing up how they do things and getting everything more secure. But for a game that is as popular as Pokemon TCG Pocket is now, it is surprising that it is taking them this long to not only release but announce the date of one of the core features to the game.
This article will be updated when it is finally announced but for now we believe that it will still release in January, 2025 but likely near the end of the month.

As of now it would be surprising to see them add any major features to Pokemon TCG Pocket beyond trading.
But, if you ever assume something with The Pokemon Company then you are usually not thinking outside the box like they are. There are definitively things they are cooking up back in the lab that we may never see. Whether any will come to light feels unlikely at this point beyond new cards getting released but there may be a connecting event for a few major events.
So look ahead towards Pokemon Day 2025, the 30th Anniversary in 2026, Pokemon Legends Z-A and Pokemon Gen 10 once it arrives as well. There are things to look forward to with the games but it would still be surprising to see them make any major additions to the core of Pokemon TCG Pocket.
