Greetings trainers; hopefully, the new Fairy-type eeveelution has been treating everyone well. Sylveon came out October 5, and it is one of the best attackers put into the game. It was also the most broken attacker, which is what this piece will be covering. Changes for Balance

Released today at 12 am, this patch nerfed the new fairy type due to its near broken damage output. As an attacker, Sylveon carries many advantages due to not only its versatile move kit, but quick level scaling. Eevee evolves at level 4 and from there, doesn’t even take a level to reach its peak as Sylveon. In fact, it probably reaches its peak quicker than ANY attacker in the game. It goes without saying, the ribbon fox needed a nerf. This patch, known as Version 1.2.1.6, adjusted the following in Sylveon’s kit.

Mystical Fire: Decreased damage inflicted

Hyper Voice: Decreased damaged inflicted

For Mystical Fire, they would get a total of 1651 damage on the first hit. With 417-431 subsequent hits taken into account, this racks up to 3346 hits of damage total. Post patch integration, these values respectively become 1049 for the first hit, with 2126 total damage with subsequent hits.

With Hyper Voice, players dealt 824 points of damage per hit, totaling 6006 total damage with subsequent hits. After the patch, this was brought down significantly to 397 per hit and 2890 total. From what was seen during release, Sylveon may not have been busted, but it was very much overtuned and dealt way more damage than it should have. This patch will not take that standing away from Sylveon, but will hopefully make it easier for others to stay on an even field with Sylveon players.

Conclusion

Players should still expect to feel powerful when playing Sylveon and it is a welcome addition to the roster of attackers. Its power, versatility, and bulk make it the best attacker in the game. However, with the Pokemon UNITE October patch active, Sylveon should hopefully be as fun to fight as it is to play as.
