More Details on Overwatch 2’s New PvP Mode, Push

Publish Date: February 17, 2020

Since Overwatch 2’s release at Blizzcon 2019, even more details have continued to come out about the game. These have included images of new maps, updates to the appearances of several heroes, in-game items to be used in PvE and an updated look to the Overwatch website. In addition to all of these, details have now been revealed as to how the new core game mode, Push, works.

How Push Works

Based on what Jeff Kaplan said during Blizzcon, it appears the new game mode will be a sort of tug-of-war with checkpoints. Essentially, each team will fight around a giant robot that, when one team stands alone, will push a marker across the map. The robot will pass checkpoints that mark a team’s progress and gives them forward spawns. Also, the block that the robot is moving stays in place once another team takes control of the robot. The first team to get their block to the finish line wins.

What Does “Core” Mean?

When this mode is referred to as “Core” it is meant to say that it will be playable in Quick Play, Competitive and in the esport, the Overwatch League. This is the first Core mode to be released since the games initial release in 2016.

The Game Haus will continue to provide more information about Overwatch 2’s release and what’s coming along with it as more information becomes available.
