Guangzhou Charge: 0-0

The Guangzhou Charge are making their regular season debut alongside the Chengdu Hunters. While they haven’t shown off too much of their play style, fans got to see them in action back in December 2018. They managed to take two maps off of the Seoul Dynasty, surprising everyone. Their international roster might cause some internal communication issues, but otherwise this team looks fairly solid.

The Chengdu Hunters look like the underdogs going into this match, but not by much. While the Hunters lack the communication hurdles that the Charge need to overcome, their inexperience might be their downfall. If the Hunters manage to coordinate and strike quickly and effectively, they can discharge Guangzhou in a flash. However, if they overextend or fail to communicate, the Hunters will become the hunted.

Prediction: Chengdu Wins 3-2

Fun Fact:

Chengdu Hunters head coach Xingrui “RUI” Wang actually faced off against Guangzhou Charge head coach CHo “J1N” Hyo-jin in the Nexus Cup 2017 almost two years ago. RUI’s team — Miraculous Youngster — defeated J1N’s team — Solution Gaming — with a final score of 0-2.

Player to Watch:

Keep an eye on Xianyo “Yveltal” Li this week. As the Hunters’ main support, he will either be the first one to be left behind and picked off if they overextend, or the player with the most impact on the game as he pushes his teammates to victory. Since the main support is also the shot caller in some setups, he will be the player making the decisions that his teammates will need to act upon.

The Chengdu Hunters and Guangzhou Charge face of Friday, Feb 15 at 8:30 PM PST.
