Last week players watched a Q&A session on Sojourn, followed by a short Developer Update that highlighted her abilities and playstyle. Now suddenly, players received another update to one of the games most unique characters. On Wednesday, April 20, the Doomfist Overwatch 2 rework was officially revealed on Twitter. Doomfist’s kit was changed to better fit the tank position and to play a bit less like a damage character. Doomfist now has 450 health and deals a bit less damage with his basic attacks. He loses his Uppercut ability in Overwatch 2, but now gains Power Block. Doomfist’s Seismic Slam has also been adjusted just a bit to fit the new role.
Power Block
- Doomfist protects himself from frontal attacks. Blocking damage empowers his Rocket Punch
- Empowered Rocket Punch travels faster, futher, and deals increased damage ‘
Seismic Slam
- Launches Doomfist into the air, similar to Winston’s Leap
- On Landing, deals damage and slows enemies
Doomfist is the first of surely many heroes to receive a rework heading into Overwatch 2. The design team mentioned how they wanted to tweak a few things in the game, namely the crowd control effects, and are looking to scale them down. Doomfist had quite a few crowd-control abilities that have been either removed or adjusted.
Players can try out the brand new Doomfist Rework Abilities on April 26 when the Overwatch 2 Beta is live.
