Tennessee Titans kicker Ryan Succop has been moved to the injured reserve list.
After offseason knee surgery, he began the preseason on the physically unable to perform list, but was removed and cleared. Now he lands on the IR, as fans are left to assume that knee is the issue.
According to Adam Schefter, the Titans will sign former Tampa Bay kicker, Cairo Santos. Former Bears kicker Cody Parkey also worked out for Tennessee.
Succop ranked 22nd in the NFL in field goal accuracy at 86.7 percent. His extra point accuracy was 38th in the league at 90.3 percent. His replacement, Santos, only kicked in seven games last year. While he made all 17 of the extra points he attempted, he made only 9-12 field goals. All three of Santos’ misses, however, were from 40 yards or more.
The other candidate, Parkey, missed seven field goals and three extra points last year. In somewhat of a historic fashion, he hit an upright and the crossbar to lose the 2018 NFC Wild Card game against the Eagles.
There is no timetable for Succop’s return, as it looks like Santos will take over all kicking duties indefinitely.
