The NFL Trade Deadline is within a week, which means some key players will be on the move. One of the players who has been involved in trade rumors is Desmond King. Here are the potential trade destinations for Desmond King.
1. Seattle Seahawks
Seattle has already made moves to improve their team as they prepare for the playoffs. They added Carlos Dunlap to their pass rush, but they also need to add to their secondary, as they are giving up way too many passing yards per game. They rank dead last in the league in passing yards allowed. A trade for King could help the Seahawks reach their ultimate goal of a Super Bowl title.
This offseason, the Seahawks acquired Quinton Dunbar to play corner across from Shaquill Griffin. The good thing about King is his versatility, as he can play anywhere in the secondary. If the Seahawks are satisfied with Dunbar and Griffin, King can play in the slot or at safety.
2. Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders improved their record to 4-3 on the season this week. It is impressive, as the Raiders rank near the bottom half of the league in passing yards allowed. If they want to make the playoffs and compete once they are there, they need to upgrade their secondary.
Nevin Lawson and Trayvon Mullen have not impressed at cornerback this year, so adding King would definitely help their pass defense. While it is a stretch to say they could beat out the Chiefs to win the AFC West, with King, the Raiders could make the playoffs.
3. Tennessee Titans
After a good start to the season, the Titans have dropped two straight games. Their pass defense has been lackluster, as they can’t generate a pass rush or cover well. They allow 268.7 passing yards per game, which ranks 27th in the NFL.
When Adoree Jackson went down with an injury before the season, the Titans took a huge blow. Malcolm Butler and the aging Jonathan Joseph are manning the corner spots for the time being. They have played ok, but the Titans could really use King as a nickel corner.
4. Cleveland Browns
Although they lost this week to drop to 3-4 on the season, the Browns are still in contention to make the playoffs. One way they can help themselves is by improving their secondary. They allow 264.8 passing yards per game, which ranks 26th in the league.
Denzel Ward is still a lockdown corner on one side of the defense. Other players have played decently around him, but they could be improved. Andrew Sendejo has not played well at safety, so King could see time replacing him if the Browns made the trade. King would be a significant upgrade that could help the Browns compete against the best teams in the NFL.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers keep adding players to help with their quest to win a championship. Antonio Brown, Leonard Fournette, Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski were all added since last season. Those players were all on the offensive side of the ball, but there is still room for improvement on defense.
Tampa Bay has had good play from Jamel Dean, Carlton Davis and Antoine Winfield Jr. in their secondary. They could use an upgrade at nickel corner or safety to help make their defense even better. If they were to acquire King, the Buccaneers would be even more legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
