Carolina Panthers superstar running back Christian McCaffrey is now out for the remainder of the 2021 season. This will be McCaffrey’s second stint on the IR during the 2021 season. The latest injury to his ankle will rob him of the final five weeks.
ESPN’s Field Yates reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Matt Rhule was hired prior to the 2020 season.
With news that Christian McCaffrey is done for the year, he will have started and finished just 6 of Rhule's first 33 games as a head coach.
A frustrating two years for CMC.

As stated in Yates’ tweet above, McCaffrey has only been available for six of Matt Rhule’s 33 games as the Panthers’ head coach. He missed 14 games in 2020 and now will miss 11 in 2021 between the two stints on injured reserve.
In seven games in 2021, McCaffrey rushed 99 times for 442 yards and a touchdown. He also had 343 yards and a touchdown through the air, as well. Given his importance to this offense, the Panthers will be fighting an uphill battle toward the playoffs for the remainder of the season.
