The Chicago Bears are hiring Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to be their next head coach according to Tom Pelissero.
Johnson has been the offensive coordinator for the Lions since 2022. He also had roles with the organization as a passing game coordinator, tight ends coach and a quality control coach. He also has experience as an assistant for the Miami Dolphins and Boston College.
In Chicago, Johnson will be tasked with developing quarterback Caleb Williams, who will be entering his second season in 2025. The Bears won five games this season with Matt Eberflus being fired midseason. Thomas Brown, the former offensive coordinator, took over as interim coach for the rest of the season.
