The NFL Conference Championships are here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL Conference Championship picks against the spread. (Spreads are from Tallysight as of Tuesday morning)
Last week: 2-2
Season: 155-120-4
Washington Commanders at Philadelphia Eagles (-5.5)
The Commanders upset the Lions with a great offensive output. Jayden Daniels is playing with more poise than most rookies and has the offense rolling. The Lions were banged up, specifically on defense, and the Commanders took advantage. Their defense still has some holes, but their offense made up for it.
Philadelphia has kept the ball on the ground and done well. They beat the Rams by six and were able to run the ball in the snow. The Eagles have some injuries too, including Jalen Hurts. This pick will assume he plays.
The Eagles have the more well-rounded roster. They have an offensive line to clear holes for the running game and to protect Jalen Hurts. Their own defensive line can pressure and impact Daniels. They have some talent in the back-end o the defense as well. The Eagles should be able to win and cover at home.
Pick: Eagles
Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs (-1.5)
Buffalo was able to hang on to beat the Ravens in the Divisional Round. They ran the ball well in the bad weather, using their running backs and Josh Allen well. The Bills are battle tested, but don’t have a standout star outside of Allen on offense. It has worked thus far and could continue to work, as they don’t give defenses a player to focus on shutting down.
Kansas City defeated the Texans by two scores. Their starters have had plenty of rest after locking up the no. 1 seed early. Hollywood Brown returning has helped the offense improve down the stretch after their defense played so well for most of the season.
The Bills getting players back on defense, like Matt Milano, can help turn the tide. Buffalo can force some turnovers and keep the ball on the ground again to pull off the upset.
Pick: Chiefs
