New Orleans Saints defensive end Marcus Davenport will miss some time after straining a pectoral muscle in Week 1’s victory over Green Bay. There is no timetable for his return, but early reports suggest he should not be out for too long.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
#Saints pass-rusher Marcus Davenport suffered a pec strain, source said. He’ll miss some time, but should be back sooner rather than later. Considering how he has come on, this is very good news for the New Orleans D.

Davenport had one sack and three combined tackles in the Saints’ 38-3 victory. His career-high mark for sacks in a season is six, during his sophomore season. His fifth-year option was just exercised by New Orleans, meaning they will have to make a decision on his contract soon.
In Week 2, the Saints will play a divisional matchup against the Carolina Panthers on the heels of one of the best wins the franchise has had in decades.
