“The NFL’s commitment to innovation is matched only by their devotion to their fans, and we are proud to welcome the NFL to Clubhouse,” said Sean Brown, Head of Sports Partnerships at Clubhouse. “The Draft is one of the biggest events of the year for football fans, and we know that millions of creators will be discussing, debating, and celebrating throughout the week.”
According to the announcement, Clubhouse will have a collection of NFL-hosted rooms featuring “a pre-draft assessment of the prospective players, a conversation with the University of Alabama’s football team alumni, a fan mock draft, draft debriefs and more.” What’s unique about these rooms is listening fans have the opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts on the draft.
Future of Clubhouse
With this innovative and major collaboration, this is the first sports partnership for Clubhouse. This endeavor is a continuation of the large success the social media app has had in the past year.
The innovative media platform has been given lots of praise after its release in March 2020. Vogue described the app’s experience as “a dizzying bringing together of live podcast-style conversations, panel discussions, networking opportunities and advantageous multiple-room use, the social-media app mimics real-life interactions.”
Founded by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth, Clubhouse has grown tremendously, especially this year. According to AppAnnie, Clubhouse grew from over 3.5 million global downloads to 8.1 million from 1 February – 16 February 2021.
At the moment, Clubhouse is an exclusive app where you have to be invited to join the platform by an existing user. They currently have about 2 million weekly active users according to its CEO, Paul Davison.
The app is still only available on iOS. However, they’ve announced that they’re working on an Android version of the app that should be ready in the summer or fall of 2021.
