One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream in week 4. (Note: All defense mentioned are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
1. Los Angeles Rams
The Rams are the 14th ranked defense in fantasy this season. They have a season-low of three points and a season-high of five points, showing their consistency. With seven sacks, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries they have shown to have point producing plays in fantasy.
Their matchup this week goes heavily in their favor. They play the Giants and the turnover-prone Daniel Jones. Not only has Jones turned the ball over, but the Giants will also be without Saquon Barkley, limiting their ability to move the ball. The Rams are owned in just 28.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Denver Broncos
Denver has had a lot of injuries, but they have still fought hard in all three games they have played. They have scored eight total fantasy points this season, with a season-low of two points. They have four sacks and two turnovers forced.
The Broncos played three solid teams to start the year in the Titans, Steelers and Buccaneers. Now, they get a good matchup at home against the Jets. The Jets have the best offense in the league for fantasy defenses to play. Denver is available in over 60 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks rank 25th for a fantasy defense this season. They would rank higher, but they scored -2 points in their shootout against the Patriots. Seattle has had a rough schedule with the Patriots, Cowboys and Falcons already played.
This week, they finally get a favorable matchup. They travel to Miami this week to take on the Dolphins. While Ryan Fitzpatrick had a good game against the Jaguars on Thursday Night Football, but he is very up and down with his performances. The Seahawks can take advantage of that. They are owned in just 26.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Arizona Cardinals
So far this season, the Cardinals rank ninth in fantasy scoring for defenses. They have two fumble recoveries and 11 sacks on the season. With two performances in which they scored four points and one where they scored nine, they are worth serious fantasy consideration.
Not only do they rank in the top 10 for fantasy defenses, they also have a solid matchup this week. The Cardinals will play the Panthers this weekend, who don’t have a high-powered offense, especially with Christian McCaffrey out for this game. Ariona is owned in 46 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. New York Jets
Fantasy managers who get really desperate this week can take a chance on the Jets. They rank 22nd for fantasy defenses with 2.0 points scored a game. They scored four points against the Bills, three points against the 49ers and -1 points against the Colts on Sunday.
This play would be all about the matchup. The Jets play the Broncos on Thursday Night Football. Denver has a lot of players injured, including Drew Lock, Courtland Sutton and Phillip Lindsay. Jeff Driskel or Brett Rypien are likely to start for the Broncos at quarterback. The Jets may be able to take advantage. They are available in over 97 percent of ESPN leagues.
