The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 19 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. This article will look into the head-scratching Madden 19 ratings for the Dallas Cowboys.

Sean Lee

Lee comes in at a 96 overall, which some would argue is too high. When he is on the field he is capable of playing up to that rating, the problem is that he has trouble staying on the field. The problem with Lee in Madden 19 is his injury rating of 83.

Even the most die-hard Cowboys fan would say that an injury rating of 83 is generous at best. Lee has never played in a full 16 game season and has played in just 86 of a possible 128 games in his career. As a point of reference, Todd Gurley, who has gotten over 200 carries in all three seasons in the NFL, has an injury rating of 81. Gurley has missed just five total games in his three seasons, one of which comes as a result of the Rams benching him in the last game of last season, as they already qualified for the playoffs.

All in all, an injury rating isn’t the most important rating in the game, but the 83 for Lee stood out.

Dan Bailey

After an injury-plagued year, the people at EA Sports didn’t rank Bailey very-highly. He is ranked 80 overall and is in a four-way tie for ninth place among kickers. That seems rather low for the second most accurate kicker in history (who could be first on the list had he not played through an injury last year). Bailey is also ranked at an 89 in kick accuracy, which is low for such a historically precise kicker.

This is likely a move to be cautious as Bailey returns from that injury, as Madden 19 has also rated Greg Zuerlein an 80 overall after his phenomenal 2017 season. Zuerlein is coming off a back injury, but surely, along with Bailey, deserves to be ranked higher.

La’el Collins

Collins is by no means close to being as good as the “Big 3” on the offensive line, but he is severely underrated in Madden 19. He is tied for the 23rd best right tackle in the game with Joe Barksdale and Jordan Mills at 72 overall. To help compare, Andre Smith is ranked higher after an awful season.

Should Collins be a player that is rated as one of the best right tackles in the game? Probably not. But to put him so low in terms of right tackles is something that will be corrected in the first roster update.

Bo Scarbrough

He fell to the seventh round and the Cowboys scooped him up in the 2018 NFL Draft. While the Cowboys should be glad they got a quality player late in the draft, there is likely a reason he fell to the seventh round. Madden has overrated Scarbrough with a 71 overall rating.

That puts him at the same overall rating as Rod Smith, Peyton Barber and C.J. Prosise, who have all contributed in the league, even if only a little bit. They did however fairly evaluate his awareness at a 58. One can only hypothesize that Scarbrough was ranked a little higher due to his play at Alabama and being a big name

Scarbrough likely won’t get too many touches during the first few weeks of the season and will drop down a few points.

Randy Gregory

Gregory has not played since 2016 and only played two games that season. He is currently filing for reinstatement into the league after violating the substance abuse policy multiple times. Madden still rates him though, as he could be reinstated. His rating is a 76.

While Gregory did show promise in his 14 career games, he hasn’t played in over a year and has just one career sack. This rating makes him better than Jaylon Smith and Anthony Brown, both of whom have contributed and played decently well.

Adjusted Ratings

Sean Lee: Injury rating 76

Dan Bailey: 83

La’el Collins: 76

Bo Scarbrough: 68

Randy Gregory: 70
