NFL week 10 is here and football is entering the midseason. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 10 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from ESPN as of Thursday morning)
Last week: 6-7-1, Overall: 67-66-1
Thursday Night
Los Angeles Chargers (-1) at Oakland Raiders
The Chargers finally played like they are capable of and beat the Packers handily. It is a short week, but it isn’t too far of a trip for the Chargers. Philip Rivers will be able to lead his team to victory by more than a point.
Pick: Chargers
Sunday Afternoon
Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears (-2.5)
Chicago still has a good defense, but they have a lot of issues with their offense. Mitch Trubisky can’t put up a lot of points. The Lions will at least be able to keep it close behind Matthew Stafford’s arm, if not win the game outright.
Pick: Lions
Baltimore Ravens (-10) at Cincinnati BengalsÂ
Ryan Finley, a fourth-round rookie, is starting at quarterback for the Bengals and now A.J. Green is questionable. Baltimore should be able to win and cover in this game, as their defense has come along and Lamar Jackson is an MVP-candidate.Â
Pick: Ravens
Buffalo Bills at Cleveland Browns (-3)
Cleveland has been sputtering and now sit in a must-win game. Now they face the Bills, who have a tough defense. This will be a low-scoring, physical game. Buffalo should be able to win this game on the road.
Pick: Bills
Kansas City Chiefs at Tennessee TitansÂ
There is no line on this game as the world awaits the news on whether Patrick Mahomes will play this week. Matt Moore led the Chiefs to a win against the Vikings by getting the ball to their playmakers. He will do the same here if forced into action.
Pick: Chiefs
Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints (-13)
The Saints should be able to win this game, but the line is very big. Atlanta doesn’t have a defense, but Matt Ryan is still capable of putting up points to make this game a shootout. New Orleans will win, but the Falcons will keep it decently close.
Pick: Falcons
New York Giants (-2.5) at New York Jets
New York City’s teams will meet in a game where the best outcome might be seeing who gets the better first-round pick next season. Leonard Williams will want revenge against his former team and the Giants can feed Saquon Barkley to win and cover the spread.
Pick: Giants
Arizona Cardinals at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-4)
Tampa Bay is one of the most erratic teams in the league. They lose games they shouldn’t and they make games competitive when they really shouldn’t either. Bruce Arians should be ready to play the Cardinals though and Mike Evans has been on a tear this season.
Pick: Buccaneers
Sunday Evening
Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts (10.5)
The Dolphins got their first win of the season against the Jets and have been playing decently for a team trying to tank. The Colts lost a tough game to the Steelers and have starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett banged up. They will win, but may not be able to cover.
Pick: Dolphins
Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers (-5)
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers did not play well last week against the Chargers. It is surprising they are favored by five points this week. Christian McCaffrey will exploit their shaky run defense and help keep the game close.
Pick: Panthers
Los Angeles Rams (-3.5) at Pittsburgh SteelersÂ
Pittsburgh’s defense has stepped it up in recent weeks to help the team get back to .500. The Rams will be coming off a bye week though, and should be prepared. Sean McVay will have his team prepared to win and cover on the road.
Pick: Rams
Sunday Night
Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys (-3)
Kirk Cousins is playing a good team on the road in primetime. His history in those situations speaks for itself. Dallas will control the clock and the game in this one.
Pick: Cowboys
Monday Night
Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (-6)
The 49ers are undefeated, but aren’t good enough to keep it up all season. Russell Wilson will find a way to make this a game against the 49ers. Seattle might just win it too.
Pick: Seahawks
