They revealed that their hesitation to announce the actual date was due to COVID-19. They feel that things have been going well and believe it is time. There will be new content coming with the full launch including more maps and agents. They only confirmed that there will be a single new agent and map with the launch but that there will be more coming in the future.
Originally there was supposed to be two new agents. They scaled one back and that agent will be coming out a bit after the official launch.
Another part of the launch will be that there is a VALORANT Battlepass. With this will come brand new gun skins as well. Both of these will likely come together in a way,
Also they confirmed that there will be a brand new mode coming with the launch as well. It is confirmed that Team Deathmatch will not be the new mode. All of this comes from the announcement and they have said that there will be new things coming soon after the official launch as well.
