The Trade Rumors Continue
Anthony Davis is the hottest topic of the NBA right now. The trade rumors that surround him are heating up and becoming more obvious. Several teams around the NBA interested in Davis. But,the front runners are the Los Angeles Lakers.
Davis could possibly land in L.A and play alongside LeBron James. If the Lakers are willing to part with some of their young pieces, the Lakers could acquire Davis. The young pieces would be players such as Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Ivica Zubac. The Lakers are the favorites, but Davis and his camp cannot publicly declare a favorite. They also cannot violate the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement. However, Rich Paul, Davis’ agent, made it clear what his client’s intentions are so, the NBA fined Anthony Davis $50,000.
Davis Fined for His Agent’s Comments
According to reports, the NBA fined Davis fined after comments from his agent. Rich Paul told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN that his client wants to be traded to a team that allows him a chance to win consistently and compete for a championship. Paul also said that he informed the Pelicans that Davis will not sign an extension and wants a trade. League executives expect Paul to make it known that Davis prefers to go to the Lakers. So, if another team acquires him, they fear he’ll be a rental player until he goes to L.A.
Paul’s statements violate the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement. The collective bargaining agreement prevents players or agents from publicly requesting a trade. The NBA called Paul’s statements an intentional effort to undermine the contractual relationship between Davis and the Pelicans. So, Davis suffered the consequences of Paul’s statements.
Will the Pelicans Trade Davis at the Trade Deadline?
Davis is out with a left finger injury. He last played on January 18 against the Portland Trailblazers. He has missed the last four games, but teams still want him. The Trade Deadline is next Thursday and the Pelicans could trade their star player. If a team lands Davis, they have a special player on their hands.
