Overwatch Archives just finished up on April 2 and now people may be wondering, when is the next Overwatch event? Well, the Archives event normally would just be starting, so it seems as though the Overwatch team has a bit of a different schedule this year. Another reason to believe this is that they added the Ashe’s Mardi Gras event for the first time ever.

The only event that normally happens every year on nearly the exact same day is the Overwatch Anniversary Event due to its obvious honoring of the release of the game. This regularly happens in the second to last week of May. That means the 2020 Anniversary Event is likely to coincide as per usual with the Wednesday patch schedule. This would mean that the most likely days for this event to happen would be either May 17 or May 24.
During the Anniversary Event Overwatch has normally revealed or released something major. Could this be the day that the Overwatch 2 release date is revealed? In 2017 they added three new Arena maps. In 2018 they added deathmatch mode. Last year they revealed the Workshop which has brought about many changes to the game. This year could be the perfect time for Blizzard and Overwatch to make a major announcement. If they don’t, they will still have new skins and probably a new game mode.
