Fantasy Football Players to Add Week 17

Publish Date: December 23, 2024

Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 17. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)

1. Kendre Miller, RB, New Orleans Saints

Alvin Kamara was injured in week 15 and Miller has been the go-to running back for the Saints. In week 15, he finished the game with nine carries for 46 yards. He plays on Monday Night Football against the Packers in week 16.

If Miller is still available, he should be picked up. Kamara is likely going to miss more time. As long as Miller stays healthy after Monday night, he has value. He currently is rostered in 47.6 percent of ESPN leagues.

2. Trey Benson, RB, Arizona Cardinals

James Conner injured his knee in week 16 and was unable to return to the game against the Panthers. Benson was also injured for this game and didn’t play. The Cardinals running back situation can be monitored.

Benson didn’t practice last week, but if he is able to this week, he can be picked up. If Benson can’t be picked up or if he can’t practice, it will be worth checking out other Cardinals’ running backs if Conner is injured. Benson is rostered in 18.1 percent of ESPN leagues.

3. Patrick Taylor Jr., RB, San Francisco 49ers

Isaac Guerendo was injured in week 16 and Patrick Taylor Jr. stepped into the lineup. He didn’t find much success against the Dolphins, but he did have the most work out of any running back. Taylor Jr. rushed eight times for 24 yards and had one catch for one yard.

Guerendo’s status for week 17 is still uncertain, so Taylor can be added just in case. If Guerendo is out, it is fair to expect Taylor to fair better in his next matchup or two to end the season. He is currently rostered in 33 percent of ESPN leagues.

4. Tyjae Spears, RB, Tennessee Titans

Even though Tony Pollard was healthy, Spears had a big game in week 16 against the Colts. He finished the game with 10 carries for 27 yards and two touchdowns. Spears also had three catches for 39 yards, showing off his skills.

In the next two weeks, Spears could vulture more touchdowns. He is worth adding to a roster, but shouldn’t be played unless it is in desperation. Spears has played decently when given the opportunity. He is rostered in 48.2 percent of ESPN leagues.

5. Jalen McMillan, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

With Chris Godwin out for the season, the Buccaneers have needed other receivers to step up. McMillan has answered the call over the last few weeks. In week 16, McMillan had five catches for 57 yards and a touchdown against the Cowboys.

McMillan as been a solid number-two target for the Buccaneers. They are in a fight for the NFC South and will need McMillan to keep playing well to help them. He is currently rostered in 33.1 percent of ESPN leagues.
