The Seoul Dynasty’s pick-up of Sunghyeon ‘Jjonak’ Bang created quite the stir in the off-season. Jjonak leaving the NYXL was a big deal as he had been the face of the organization for four seasons. The Season 1 MVP recipient picked the Seoul Dynasty as his next team, but many questions still revolve around this pick. Is the current Jjonak still the level of the Season 1 Jjonak? How much playtime is Jjonak going to receive? And where is Jjonak?
The levels of Jjonak.
It is undoubtedly fair to say that Jjonak was the standout rookie of the inaugural season of the Overwatch League. It was talked about how Jjonak was unintentionally making waves in other teams for just being himself in-game. The Jjonak syndrome was when other players, especially flex support players, thought that they should be getting the same support and treatment as Jjonak was getting on the NYXL. This enabled Jjonak to make some incredible players and have a highlight reel that any player would be jealous of.
From that time a long time ago until now a lot has changed. The talent has become fierce especially in teh flex support position. The community has been interested in the plans that the team will have for Jjonak as he is an amazing flex support, but Youngwan ‘Creative’ Kim has also proven himself to be worthy with his Zen and Ana plays.
Play Time?
When looking at the rankings that the Overwatch League’s stat website gave the support category overall, Jjonak ranked 19th with a score of 102. Creative was close behind at 26th place with a score of 96. When it comes to the numbers of the regular season of Season 5, both flex supports are pretty evenly matched.
In raw numbers, Jjonak does have the upper hand. That being said with Creative now going into his second year with the Seoul Dynasty he has some seniority and know-how of how the team and organization works. All of this history might be wiped out to nothing, as the release of Overwatch 2 could change everything. The Seoul Dynasty will put the player in that is doing the best in that meta, opponent, and mental space. It gives the opportunity for Jinmo ‘Tobi’ Yang to play around with different compositions. The idea of a Creative Ana alongside a Jjonak Zen could be a deadly combination.
Where is Jjonak?
After the first appearance and announcement that Jjonak would be joining the team, he has not been seen on social media with the players. The Seoul Dynasty has posted a few pictures for Christmas as well as the New Years that has had the whole team present minus Jjonak.

That is not to say that Jjonak has not been seen on social media. He has posted on his own Instagram story showing that he was around some old friends like Jungmin ‘Mirage’ Bae. Osan, which is the City that Jjonak is from is farther away from Seoul, but someone like Creative is from farther away (Daejeon). Hopefully, Jjonak is getting all the rest he needs so he is ready to join the group when the start of Season 5 gets closer.
Jjonak on the Seoul Dynasty
The addition of Jjonak brings in a big name and a veteran who has proven his worth. It is ironic that Jjonak completes so many sets for the Seoul Dynasty. The Gido ‘Gido’ Moon and Jehong ‘Ryujehong’ Ryu best friend set as well as the NYXL OG set of Taesung ‘Anamo’ Jung and Jongryeol ‘Saebyeolbe’ Park. The Seoul Dynasty also now has two players that have gotten the MVP award in Jjonak and previously Byungsun ‘Fleta’ Kim. It is the year of the Tiger and the year to show the dominance of the Seoul Dynasty with the help of Jjonak.
