Barring the rumoured Min-soo “SeoMinSoo” Seo signing, the Hangzhou Spark have signed their final member of the 2021 roster: Se-won “BERNAR” Shin. The announcement was made late Wednesday night on social media.
We’ve got our shields, and now we get our talon, and he is hungry.
Please welcome our new off tank, @Bernar ! #sparkbang

BERNAR comes off a semi-successful rookie campaign with the London Spitfire. He went into the Overwatch League as one of the top rookies to watch in 2020. While London didn’t end near the top of the standings, the Korean Off-tank did hold second in both Eliminations and Hero Damage, just behind DPS Gil-seong “Glister” Lim. On top of that, BERNAR did finish first on the 2020 Spitfire in Assists. The Flex Tank player is primarily known for his outstanding D.VA but does excel on Zarya, Roadhog and especially Sigma.
An important note in regards to BERNAR is that he was a part of the fabled “30-0” Fusion University squad that dominated NA Contenders before rebranding/relocating to T1 in Korea. The squad contained stars like Adam “Beast” Denton, Seung-jun “WhoRU” Lee, and 2020 Rookie of the Year: Kyung-bo “Alarm” Kim. BERNAR shares in that sentiment and by far was was one of Fusion U’s best. While the Korean Flex Tank has not seen much success in the OWL, he brings a fair share of it with him to the Spark’s Tank line.
As previously mentioned, this acquisition brings Hangzhou one step closer to a full 12 man roster. The team released of a majority of their roster and have now acquired promising talent to secure their future vision. With BERNAR, the team now has six Korean players and five Chinese players. Add in SeoMinSoo, and the final slate will give the Korean side of the team two additional members. How this will affect the team’s rotation is still to be seen, but regardless, the roster is about to be finalized within the next few weeks as the rest of the league also finds their final pieces.
