The football world was surprised to hear that late season breakout, running back Raheem Mostert requested a trade from the San Fransisco 49ers according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Mostert and the 49ers have been discussing a contract extension and at age 28, he believes this might be his only shot to cash in.
The 49ers running back ran for 424 of his 772 yards last season in the last six games. He also scored eight touchdowns during that span.
Mostert was a huge reason why the San Fransisco 49ers made the Super Bowl last season. He ran for 336 yards and five touchdowns during the postseason. Mostert became a household name after the NFC Championship where he ran for 220 yards and four touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers. He was the games MVP.
San Fransisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offenses has produced multiple 1,000-yard rushers. Both Shanahan and his father Mike have a reputation of turning Day three or undrafted free agents into stars. If Mostert gets moved he will have to prove whether it was the offense or his play that made him successful.
Before this season Mostert played for seven teams in his first two seasons. He has been with the 49ers since 2016. Primarily before this season he played a majority of his snaps on special teams.
Besides Mostert the 49ers have Tevin Coleman, Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson Jr. on their roster. So the 49ers will be more than okay if Mostert gets traded.
