NFL Week 4 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 4 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from Tallysight as of Tuesday morning)
Last Week: 8-8
Season: 25-20-3
Thursday Night Football
Dallas Cowboys (-4.5) at New York Giants
Dallas has struggled to stop the run, which has created issues. Against the Giants, they should be able to get an early lead, which will limit the Giants’ opportunity to run the ball.
Pick: Cowboys
Sunday Afternoon
Pittsburgh Steelers (-1.5) at Indianapolis Colts
The Steelers are undefeated behind their good defense. Anthony Richardson has struggled with turnovers and inaccurate throws, so the Steelers should be able to take advantage and win the game.
Pick: Steelers
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers (-2.5)
Brian Flores has the Vikings’ defense rolling, but Matt LaFleur has the Packers’ offense moving the ball with Malik Willis at quarterback. Jordan Love has been close to returning for the last few weeks, so he could be good to go in this one.
Pick: Packers
Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans (-6)
The Jaguars got blown out on Monday Night Football and now are on a short week. Houston can cause problems for the Jacksonville offense, helping them cover the spread.
Pick: Texans
New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons (-1.5)
New Orleans’ hot start slowed down in week 3, but the recipe for success is still there with new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. This is virtually a pick’em game and the Saints have shown more so far.
This week: Saints
Los Angeles Rams at Chicago Bears (-3)
The Bears’ defense has played well, but the offense has really struggled to move the ball. Sean McVay did a great job adjusting to injuries last week and could do it again in week 4.
Pick: Rams
Philadelphia Eagles (-2.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Eagles notched a hard-fought win over the Saints on the road to get things on track. Tampa Bay lost to the Broncos last week. Nick Sirriani has made some questionable decisions this season and that could cost them in this game.
Pick: Buccaneers
Cincinnati Bengals (-4.5) at Carolina Panthers
Cincinnati is now 0-3 after losing to Washington on Monday Night Football. Former Bengals quarterback has a chance at revenge. He played well in his first week as a starter, but usually quarterbacks tail off after their first start of a season after starting on the bench.
Pick: Bengals
Denver Broncos at New York Jets (-7)
Bo Nix earned his first win in week 3 after struggling in weeks 1 and 2. New York’s defense can make things tough for him. The Jets should be able to use two running backs to wear the Broncos’ defense down.
Pick: Jets
Sunday Evening
Washington Commanders at Arizona Cardinals (-4)
Jayden Daniels had a big game on Monday Night Football, but now the Commanders will be on a short week. Arizona can take advantage of the secondary weaknesses the Commanders have and win the game.
Pick: Cardinals
New England Patriots at San Francisco 49ers (-10)
The 49ers have some key injuries, which could make moving the ball tough against a usually stout defense in New England. San Francisco will likely win this game, but big underdogs have been successful this season in the NFL.
Pick: Patriots
Cleveland Browns at Las Vegas Raiders (-1)
Cleveland can’t move the ball on offense consistently. For as good as the defense is, it is hard to win games with the offense underperforming. The Raiders looked bad against the Panthers last week, but should correct things this week.
Pick: Raiders
Kansas City Chiefs (-8) at Los Angeles Chargers
Patrick Mahomes will be going up against a new Chargers’ team under Jim Harbaugh, which might take some time to adjust. While the Chiefs will likely win the game, this is another big spread that often hasn’t been covered in the NFL this season.
Pick: Chargers
Sunday Night Football
Buffalo Bills at Baltimore Ravens (-2)
The Ravens defeated the Cowboys because they were able to run the ball. It might be harder to do against the Bills because of their defense and because their offense might get the lead early in the game.
Pick: Bills
Monday Night Football
Tennessee Titans (-1) at Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins looked awful without Tua Tagovailoa. Mike McDaniel can figure out how to get more explosive plays with more time. The Titans are struggling with turnovers already and the Dolphins can take advantage.
Pick: Dolphins
Seattle Seahawks at Detroit Lions (-4)
Seattle is undefeated, but going on the road to play the Lions will be tough. The Lions should run the ball better and can protect their home turf.
Pick: Lions
