The 2022 NFL Draft begins on April 28, which means that The Game Haus will be debuting draft profiles for every team. Each NFL team will be evaluated heading into this year’s draft, as our staff recaps their last season, highlights their needs and pinpoints their potential 2022 NFL Draft targets. The Las Vegas Raiders are the subject of today’s 2022 NFL Draft profile.
Summary
The Raiders placed second in the AFC West with a 10-7 record, and made the playoffs in the last game of the season in a nail-biter against the division rival Los Angeles Chargers. That win also prevented the Chargers from getting into the playoffs. They did all of this despite having one of the most tumultuous seasons for a team in the history of the NFL.
Their head coach was fired among racist, sexist and homophobic emails surfacing. One of their wide receivers was involved in a car crash that killed a young woman and her dog. A cornerback was let go after brandishing a gun on social media. Rich Bisaccia became the first interim head coach to take his team to the playoffs, anyway. Las Vegas lost in the first round to the eventual AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals.
The offseason has been a very different story, however. They added (arguably) the best receiver in the NFL, Davante Adams, who was Derek Carr’s college teammate. Also added was prolific sack machine Chandler Jones and solid cornerback Rock Ya-Sin. Now all that is left is the 2022 NFL Draft, which may solidify their status as challengers to the AFC West crown.
2022 NFL Picks
Las Vegas will have one pick to use in the first three rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Third Round (one pick): No. 86
Team needs
Offensive line- The Raiders could use a guard or a tackle, depending on what they want to do with Alex Leatherwood. Also, with the rate offensive linemen go down or need to be shuffled out, depth is always a good thing at the position.
Defensive line- There are some holes in this defensive line despite the addition of Jones. It is time to grab some depth here, considering this draft is one of the deepest in years in the middle rounds.
2022 Draft Targets
Third Round:
Pick No. 86: Daniel Faalele, OT, Minnesota
Faalele is huge at 6-foot-9 and 384 pounds, according to combine measurements. That means he does not really move well, but it doesn’t mean it’s easy to get past him, either. A space-eating tackle that can pancake some smaller lineman could work well for the Raiders. It will at least give them a solid tackle for jumbo packages.
