The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2024 Liberty Bowl.
Tahj Brooks, RB
Brooks joined Texas Tech in 2020 and immediately started producing. He was decently productive over his first three seasons in college, but really broke out over the last two years. In 2024, Brooks has 1,505 rushing yards, 199 receiving yards and 18 total touchdowns.
At 5-foot-10 and 230 pounds, Brooks has great size for an NFL running back. He runs hard, has excellent contact balance and can pick up the tough yards. Brooks doesn’t have breakaway speed, but can be a dependable running back at the next level. He should be a mid to late round pick.
Projected Draft Range: Fourth Round Pick-Sixth Round Pick
Jalin Conyers, TE
Conyers started his college career at Oklahoma before transferring to Arizona State. He produced for them, especially during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Conyers transferred to Texas Tech in 2024. This season he has 29 catches for 308 yards and five touchdowns.
At 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds, Conyers has solid size for an NFL tight end. He has a filled out frame and has some quality production at the college level at both Arizona State and Texas Tech. Conyers has the chance to be selected late in the draft.
Projected Draft Range: Sixth Round Pick-Undrafted Free Agent
Other Draft Prospects: DL De’Braylon Carroll (6th-UFA), WR Josh Kelly (6th-UFA), QB Behren Morton (UFA)
Fernando Carmona, OT
Carmona started his college career playing for San Jose State. He redshirted in 2021, then started at left tackle for the Spartans during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Folllowing the 2023 season, Carmona transferred to Arkansas where he was named Third Team All-SEC.
He stands 6-foot-5 and 322 pounds, which is solid size for an NFL offensive tackle. Carmona adjusted well the the new level of play at the SEC level. A return to school could help his stock, but if he declares for the draft, he could be a late round pick.
Projected Draft Range: Sixth Round Pick-Undrafted Free Agent
Eric Gregory, DL
Gregory is college football veteran, having joined Arkansas in 2019. He played early in his career, but started most of the games in 2022. Gregory developed over his time and had his best season in 2024 with five tackles for loss and three sacks.
At 6-foot-4 and 320 pounds, Gregory will fit right in on the interior of an NFL defensive line. He has plenty of experience and has played a lot of different roles during his time in college, which should help his stock. Gregory is a projected late round pick or undrafted free agent.
Projected Draft Range: Sixth Round Pick-Undrafted Free Agent
*EDGE Landon Jackson has opted out of this bowl game. He is a projected day-two pick.
*RB Ja’Quinden Jackson has opted out of this bowl game. He is a projected late-round pick or undrafted free agent.
