New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman plans to retire, according to some sources around the NFL. Many believed Gettleman was going to be fired after another disappointing season in 2021, but the four-year GM will retire insead.
ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
I'm told #Giants GM Dave Gettleman has informed some in the building that he's planning to retire, per league source.

Since Gettleman took over the General Mangaer job in 2018, the New York Giants have not made the postseason and have a record of 46-65. He was also responsible for drafting Daniel Jones out of Duke with the sixth overall pick. Jones has a record of only 12-25 in 38 games played.
On “Black Monday” around the NFL, many firings and job occupancies are expected. Gettleman retiring instead of being fired and Brian Flores’ firing from the Dolphins organization are among the more surprising Black Monday results in recent memory.
