Free agent running back David Montgomery will sign with the Detroit Lions according to Tom Pelissero. It will be a three-year, $18 million deal according to Ian Rapoport.
Montgomery, 25, spent the first four seasons of his career in Chicago. In his career, he has 3,609 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns. For the 2022 season, he rushed for 801 yards and five touchdowns.
With the signing, Montgomery will join D’Andre Swift in the Lions’ backfield. It is unlikely that the Lions bring back Jamaal Williams to join them after signing Montgomery.
