The Cleveland Browns have ruled out a key cornerback for Week 11’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. Greg Newsome II suffered a concussion during Friday’s practice, and is now unable to play. He’ll play again after getting through the concussion protocol.
ESPN’s Field Yates reported the news via Twitter on Friday.
Newsome was acquired by the Browns in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, with the 26th overall pick out of Northwestern University. He was named to the Pro Football Writers’ Associations’ All-Rookie team during his first season.
So far in 2022, Newsome has played in nine games, racking up 24 combined tackles, one pass deflection and 0.5 sacks. He still does not have an interception in the NFL in his 21 games played (20 starts). It is unclear whether or not Newsome will travel to Detroit, where the game is taking place due Buffalo expecting multiple feet of snowfall.
