The Atlanta Braves are adding to their bullpen through a midseason acquisition. 32-year-old right-handed relief pitcher Pierce Johnson has been sent to Atlanta in exchange for two right-handed pitching prospects, Vodnik and Gordon.
MLB reported Jon Heyman helped report the news via Twitter on Monday.
So far this season, Johnson has appeared in 43 games, going 1-5 with an ERA of 6.00 over just 39 innings pitched. His career high in appearances came in 2020, in which he played in 63 games, pitched 58.2 innings and garnered an ERA of 3.22.
The Braves sit in first place in the National League Eastern Division with a record of 64-34 (at time of writing). They are currently 11.5 games ahead of the (shared) second place teams, the Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins.
