Philadelphia has been consistently getting mentioned in big trades revolving around some of the most elite receivers in the League. Within the last week it was announced that Deebo Samuel wants to get traded from the 49ers. The Eagles were immediately amongst teams that could show interest in the ultra-talented receiver. Now, there is new receiver from Tennessee that could be on the trade market. His name is A.J. Brown who was one of the top receivers in the league in 2021 with the Titans. Check out how A.J. Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles are linked and what could he do for the Eagles if he was traded to Philly
What has AJ Brown done with the Titans?
A.J. Brown was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. This ended up being a very good pick for the Titans as A.J. Brown immediately made an impact. During his rookie year he racked up over 1,000 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. That year he made the NFL All Rookie Team and made a statement as one of the best young receivers in the league.
In 2020, he picked up where he left off in 2019. He again had over 1,000 yards receiving and had even more touchdowns with 11. He also ended up making his first pro bowl appearance that year. Furthermore, in 2021 Brown did not do as good as other years. However, he still had a solid campaign with 869 yards and five touchdowns. To conclude, A.J. has been consistently shown that he is one of the better receivers in the league during his first three years in the NFL.
The Link to Philly
An interesting report came out over the weekend that Brown was practicing with current Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. This fueled speculation that a trade could happen between the two sides. Brown has not been happy with the current contract negotiations with the Tennessee Titans thus far. The two sides have reportedly reached an impasse as of recent. However, it is worth noting that Brown does have one more year left on his contract, and it is possible that deal can still get done between the two parties. Furthermore, although this is interesting a lot of players do practice together during the off season. Eagles’ fans should not get too excited until more is learned about the situation.
What could he do with the Eagles?
A.J Brown would be another weapon to this Eagles offense. He would also be able to take a lot of weight off Devonta Smith’s shoulders. Smith as of now is the best receiver on the team and was one of the only receivers that really showed out for Philly in 2021. Brown would make the receiving core next level.
He has speed and a lot of athleticism. He is mostly known for being able to come down with amazing catches which makes him a huge threat to catch 50/50 balls. A.J. Brown has had a catch percentage in the lower sixties to mid-sixties his entire career. This is impressive as he does get targeted a lot. Brown also has a lot of physicality. He can separate from defenders while running his routes and once he caches the ball, he can be a nuisance to bring down with his aggressive style.
In conclusion, A.J. Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles would be a great fit if Brown were to get traded. The receiving core would be good with Smith and Zach Pascal already in the mix in Philadelphia. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and if the Eagles will get their wish, which is another big named receiver.
