Rubio was an unrestricted free agent prior to signing the deal. He last played for the Utah Jazz where he played two seasons and averaged a career-high 13.1 points in 2017-18. Now, the nine-year veteran embarks on a new journey.
Rubio joins a team that needed a point guard to orchestrate their offense. This year, their star guard Devin Booker usually ran the offensive. Now, Booker can focus solely on scoring as Rubio will run the offense.
Young teams usually benefit from having a veteran on their team. The Suns not only got that but they also have their point guard. So, this is move is not only a good deal but a step in the right direction.
