College football is back in full swing. There are always things to watch every week of the season. Here are 5 things to watch in college football week 13.
Indiana has made waves this season, going 10-0 to start the season. They will face their stiffest test yet when they travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State. They haven’t had the toughest schedule, but they have performed well this season. The Hoosiers score 43.9 points per game and allow just 13.8. Kurtis Rourke has been efficient at quarterback with a 71 percent completion percentage.
Ohio State’s only loss of the season was to Oregon by one point. They have mostly taken care of business, even with having played two out of the top four teams in the country already. Their defense ranks first in the country, as they allow just 10.3 points per game. Their offense has also been good, putting up 37.8 points per game. It will be another big game for Ohio State, who is favored 12 points.
Army is undefeated and has a shot to make the CFP this season. They have played great defense and give up just 10.3 points per game. The offense leads the country in rushing at 334.9 yards per game and they put up 35.4 points per contest. They will play Notre Dame this week.
A win over Notre Dame could move Army up the rankings enough to help them be the Group of Five representative in the CFP. It will be hard to beat Notre Dame, as they rank 11th in scoring and third in scoring defense this season. The Fighting Irish are beatable though, as Northern Illinois pulled off an upset earlier this season.
Colorado has put themselves in a position to make the CFP if they can win some games down the stretch. They have a tough test at Kansas this week. The Buffaloes have Shedeur Sanders operating an offense that averages 322.2 passing yards per game. They also score 34.1 points per game. Their defense is much improved over last season, as they allow 22.7 points per game.
Kansas started the season off slowly, but they have knocked off two of the Big 12’s best teams in the last two weeks: Iowa State and BYU. While they are elite in no category, Jalon Daniels and Devin Neal make a great combo at quarterback and running back. Another upset could be in store for the Jayhawks.
In week 12, Florida pulled off an upset over LSU. They could pull off another this week as Ole Miss travels to the Swamp. The Rebels are coming off of a bye, but put themselves back in the CFP picture with a win over Georgia before that. They have an offense and defense that ranks in the top 10 for scoring.
Florida looked much better with D.J. Lagway at quarterback last week against LSU. Florida has stated that head coach Billy Napier will return next season and the Gators could benefit from that. While the Gators don’t stand out in any statistical category, going 5-5 with their schedule has toughened them up and could help them pull off another upset.
Earlier this season, Boise State and UNLV played a close game in the Mountain West. Boise State won and is now the favorite to be the group of five representatives in the College Football Playoff. UNLV is likely hoping for a rematch in the MWC Championship Game, as they only have one conference loss on the year.
There is one team standing in the way of a rematch. That is Colorado State. The Rams have three losses this season, but all are in the nonconference, They don’t have a game with Boise State or UNLV on the schedule, so they could win their next two games and make the conference title game. First they will have to play Fresno State on the road, which could give them some issues.
