Oakland Athletics pitcher, A.J Puk, has been placed on the IL days before the season after suffering a shoulder strain. According to multiple sources, he’s currently meeting with Dr. ElAttrache in Los Angeles and there is no timetable for return.
Puk has been plagued with injuries throughout his young career, but still held high hopes throughout the league, as he was the No. 23 prospect in baseball according to CBS Sports. Puk was also projected to be the Athletics fifth starter this season.
With Puk now sidelined from the rotation, Daniel Mengden has been tapped to fill in the rotation for the time being.
In 2019, Puk went 2-0 as a reliever, and had 13 strikeouts over 11 innings pitched.
