Skarner has long been one of the least-played champions. Only CaptainFlowers, a caster in North America for the LCS is known to main the scorpion champion in League of Legends. After calls to have him reworked for many years, he is next in line to get a full rework. So with that, fans are probably wondering when they might see him on the Rift. Here is what is known about the Skarner Rework Release Date so far.

Skarner Rework Release Date
The Skarner Rework Release Date will likely be near the middle of February with Patch 14.4.
It is safe to assume that Skarner will be early as the latest League of Legends Dev Blog confirmed 2024 for him. Along with this, players can assume to see this rework early as they finally showed off more about Skarner and even his ability to throw rocks. They do not share this information until the champion is nearly complete.
With the League of Legends Hwei Release Date coming first, the next release will be Smolder. Then it was confirmed by a Riot employee that Skarner and his VGU would finally be coming next.
This is why it is safe to assume that Skarner will be coming out near the middle of February.
Skarner Rework Abilities
Here is a look at what was shown in the latest League of Legends Champion Roadmap.
Q- Picks up and throws a rock at the targetted area dealing AOE damage. It becomes his auto-attack and slows.
W- Skarner slams the ground dealing damage in a wave around him after a short burst.
E- Skarner goes through walls, latches onto enemies and stuns them against another wall.
R- Impale will still be the ability. That said it will be changing. It will no longer be point and click, it is likely a skillshot.
What is Taking So Long for the Skarner Rework?
During a Dev Update, it was announced that Skarner was taking more time than they had anticipated. Even though Skarner was revealed to have won the rework vote in 2022, the rework did not come out in 2022. Generally, that is because these updates take at least a year to a year and a half to complete. Sadly, Skarner has taken more time due to the fact that they are changing literally everything about him other than his name.
With the new Lore update they likely had to scrap any initial plans for Skarner. His entire backstory is gone and they had to find a way to have him fit within the universe again.
Add that with completely new abilities, changing all of his skins and much more and it is why Skarner has taken longer than most other complete reworks.
