MAD Lions lost some integral pieces from last year’s roster, leaving the team in a difficult situation. They could go out and pursue a top-tier free agent in hopes to repeat the success MAD Lions found in 2021, or look towards the future and bring in new talent. In a recent announcement, it looks like MAD is selecting the latter. On Tuesday November 23, MAD Lions announced they will sign Reeker and Unforgiven to their 2022 LEC roster.

Reeker is a mid laner who most recently played with BIG in the Prime League. Under the name of RKR, Reeker lead the team to a first place finish in Prime League Summer, and even took home the MVP honors for the split. Other notable achievements include notching over 500 kills in his duration in the Prime League. Reeker will be filling in for Humanoid who had an incredible season of his own in 2021.

Also getting the call-up from the Prime League is SK Gaming Prime’s bot laner Unforgiven. Unforgiven has the difficult task of filling in for MAD’s previous AD carry Carzzy. Many viewers saw Carzzy as one of the key cogs in MAD’s impressive MSI and Worlds runs. Now with Carzzy leaving for a new team, it will be up to Unforgiven to step up and continue to excel alongside Kaiser in the bot lane.
MAD’s decision to call up two new players from the developmental leagues highlights their intention to build towards the future of the team. Though the team will have their struggles early, MAD’s 2022 roster can still find success in a LEC league that has wildly changed rosters.
