LCS Picks Week 1 Playoffs Summer 2023
TSM vs. EG
This should be a very interesting series. Many will probably be picking Evil Geniuses to win. Considering they won the last matchup and four more games than TSM during the regular season that is to be expected. But, the big wildcard here comes in at the jungle with Sheidon or Armao. Which one will start?
It is likely Sheidon but with his inexperience and now more tape on him, it is hard not to wonder whether he will be pushed to his limit or not. TSM have done well playing as a team and attacking the weak points of their opponents. They have also done a relatively good job of keeping jojopyun in lane but his midgame, especially in that last game, saw him take over in a big way.
This series should be closer than people think. TSM went through a slump in the previous week, there is no doubt about that. That being said, they were one or two wins away, especially if one was against EG, and a bad decision week with Ruby, from being just behind or in a tiebreaker with Evil Geniuses.
Evil Geniuses come out on top but TSM make it a tough series.
Prediction: EG Win 3-2
NRG vs. TL
This certainly feels like a series that also could go either way. Both teams have generally finished strong and they both beat each other in the head-to-head matchup. Unlike the previous series, this one will come down two very different styles of play and who is able to execute on those better.
For NRG it is about scaling and winning major teamfights after likely being down in the early game. This will also require them to not be in a terrible position in the early game. Here is where TL have the advantage. They should have the lead in every lane early. But can they translate it?
Thanks to APA, Team Liquid have seemingly found a much better rhythm when it comes to teamfighting. Shoring up this weakness, at least a little, has had a major effect on the team. It will come down to whether he can handle to pressure or not.
In this series it feels like he should be able to give Team Liquid a comfortable but hard-fought 3-1 series win.
Prediction: TL Win 3-1
