Evil Geniuses announced on Twitter today that they are parting ways with their Mid Laner, Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro. This comes after two years with the team and his contract expiring.

Jiizuke was considered to be one of the best Mid Laners in NA in 2021 on EG. So much so, that he was even in the MVP discussion. Despite not winning MVP, Jiizuke made the 1st LCS All-Pro Team with 104 votes. To call his time on EG this year not a success would be a lie. After a disappointing 2020, Jiizuke proved all the haters wrong and showed why EG put faith in him.
Jojopyun:
Jiizuke has been replaced by Jojopyun, which you can read more about in this article. Jojopyun has been playing on Evil Geniuses Academy in 2021. He is only 17 years old and is a former Fortnite competitive player. Jojopyun is peak raw NA Talent and seeing him replace a more veteran player like Jiizuke seems like a natural extension for the EG roster.
Evil Geniuses have already proved their talent pipeline with promoting Danny from Evil Geniuses Prodigies straight into the LCS. Danny was so good in fact that he earned “Rookie of the Year” in the LCS. Evil Geniuses with this move are showing their abilities even more to scout, coach and promote. Jojopyun is currently signed through 2023 with Evil Geniuses. With Jiizuke’s contract expiring, this move makes sense. Jojo will still be surrounded by more a veteran player in Impact and a veteran coach in Peter Dun. This will add a core of stability to the team.
