2021 Summer Review
The 2021 Summer started off well enough for DIG as they were back to their winning ways going 2-1 in the first week. Then the wheels started to fall off and all of the work that had been done in the Spring unraveled. The team would make massive changes to the starting lineup with Dardoch once again getting kicked from the team and Soligo getting sent down. Akaadian and Yusui would come in and do a respectable job.
Considering Dignitas were tied for third after the first split, it was sad to see them barely hanging on to the sixth spot as the year finished out. They would end up going 12-15 to finish out the year and then lose in the upper bracket 3-1 to EG and then get swept 3-0 by Immortals. After so much promise in the Spring with the only full NA roster, everything fell apart for Dignitas in the Summer.
DIG LCS 2022 Spring Split Roster
Top- FakeGod
Jng- River
Mid- Blue
Bot- Neo
Sup- Biofrost
Coach- Enatron
DIG LCS 2022 Coaches:
Enatron comes over for his first stint in the LCS from Turkey. Previously he had helped to put together Spring Split 2021 Misfits roster but the team did not have the results they expected. He has been a coach since 2016 and has found most of his success in Turkey. His last stint with a tier one org did not end the way he had hoped even though the team had performed relatively well. Now he will try to raise what looks to be a DIG roster that could struggle.
Helping Enatron will be Mabrey who was the assistant coach for DIG last season. He saw the rising and falling of the team that many expected more from. His time as an assistant has been well-regarded by many in the community. From his time on Echo Fox to TSM, the teams he has coached for have seemingly felt like he fit well. Now it will be up to him to help Enatron get this roster together.
DIG LCS 2022 Players:
In the top lane, FakeGod returns after a less than stellar year. Most of it he was playing weakside to help the team get leads in other places. This was especially true once the summer hit. FakeGod struggled to keep up in lane and make overly impactful plays. The hope will be that he is able to hit his stride early in the split and find the rhythm he sorely lacked in 2021.
River comes over from PSG Talon as one of the more surprising pickups of the offseason in the LCS. He has shown that he can absolutely be a world-class jungler multiple times. The problem is that he is coming to a new country on a team that has some major questions surrounding it at nearly every position. River has the talent to carry this team but he won’t be able to 1v9 every game.
Arguably the most head-scratching pickup of the offseason was Blue from SK Gaming. There he did show that he was truly ready for the top-tier mids of Europe. With so much other talent out there in the mid lane especially, Blue just feels like a panic move from Dignitas or maybe Enatron saw something that no one else has? Either way, Blue will likely struggle against the solid mids in the LCS similarly to how he did in the LEC.
The best player on this roster is likely Neo. When paired with aphromooo, Neo finally showed everyone what he was capable of. Now aphromoo is gone and he will have another challenge to the league to prove that he remains a top bot laner in the LCS. He will need to pair with River to help carry this team to some wins.
Lastly is Biofrost. This guy is a levelheaded leader that this team needs. One should expect that as the main veteran for this team that he will be shotcalling and bringing more than mechanical skills to this team. He took a year off but made it clear that he wanted to come back. At times he has been a top-level support in the LCS. Dignitas will hope that he can find that form once again.
DIG LCS 2022 Schedule
Predicted Dignitas LCS 2022 Spring Split Placement: 10th
Potential Range for the Team: 10th-6th
There are certainly some pieces on Dignitas that can work. Getting River was a nice pickup and the intangibles Biofrost adds will help not only Neo but also all of Dignitas. The three players mentioned there are the ones that Dignitas will have to rely on heavily if they want to compete in any serious way. Right now most of the LCS teams look a lot better than them. Dignitas will need to defy expectations to make the Spring Split playoffs.
