Team Liquid finally followed up on the Alphari bench situation, originally announced via Coach Jatt’s Twitter on June 5. In the most recent announcement, Team Liquid cites “performances and attitude issues, which were concerns that started during the practice leading to Summer Split.” LCS fans have been frothing for more information regarding the roster decision, as Jatt originally gave very little information.

In an interview with Travis Gafford on June 7, following the 1-2 Week 1, Jatt simply said “It feels sudden, but it wasn’t a spur of the moment decision. It was something made with a lot of care.” When pressed for a bit more, Jatt declined to provide more information.
Now Team Liquid fans can know Alphari’s issues behind the scenes stem from his personal life. The recent announcement mentions that Alphari gave the organization permission to share this insight. They recognize that leadership should have decided on the benching prior to playing on stage again. TL also admitted that communication with Alphari and the broader audience was unclear.
June 27 is the expected date for Alphari to rejoin the starting roster. In the meantime, Jenkins will be his substitute. That gives Jenkins nine games over three weeks, a full round robin, before Alphari returns.
