Bandai Namco seems set on keeping Dragonball Xenoverse 2 alive. In their recent promotions for the game, they teased the release of a brand new game mode: Cross Versus, a brand new game mode. But what is Cross Versus in Xenoverse 2, and how does it differ from the preexisting 3v3 mode?
Cross Versus is, as previously mentioned, a 3v3 game mode. Instead of pitting teams against each other directly, each team has a list of missions to accomplish. It’s almost like a time rush to see which team can beat the most enemies the fastest.

While on separate quests, there are collectables located throughout the map. These provide points as well, and players can even discover moves throughout the map. Players pretty much have three base options: Level Up, Explore, or Invade.
Players can level up by finding collectables and finishing the missions. Exploration is encouraged to discover new moves throughout the various maps, and invading has the player fight against the enemy head on.
This game mode provides a better balance and highlight of Xenoverse 2’s greatest traits. It’s never been that great of a team game, with the original 3v3 game mode really just providing a place for various players to 1v1. 3v3’s were so imbalanced and impractical that many members of the community tried to avoid jumping and actually using teamwork, because it made the opposition just feel completely bullied.
Cross Versus, on the other hand, seems to utilize the exploration and PvE aspects of Xenoverse 2 to create a proper team based combat. Speed running through Parallel Quests has always been one of the greatest aspects of Xenoverse 2 — and Cross Versus appears to focus on this aspect heavily.
As the game mode just released, it’s difficult to say how balanced it is. But one thing is for certain, it certainly provides a unique take, highlighting what gives Xenoverse 2 its charm.
