The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 21 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. Here are the Madden 21 questionable ratings: Chicago Bears.
Kyle Fuller– 85
A 2018 all-pro, Kyle Fuller remained a very good cornerback in 2019 and has been penalized too heavily for his team’s lack of success rather than his own. While he did not match his seven interception total from the previous season, Fuller remained a high impact player on the 4th ranked defense in the entire NFL in points allowed. Fuller is also consistently given the responsibility of shutting down the number one receiver week in and week out. In front of Fuller, are players such as Denzel Ward and Desmond King, players who while are very good, but do not have the same responsibilities as Kyle Fuller, and have not produced at the statistical level of the Bears’ corner either.
Adjusted Rating- 88
Anthony Miller– 76
Bears wideout Anthony Miller is the perfect example of a very skillful football player, but does not have the production to match his talent due to terrible quarterback play. Being Chicago’s second receiving option outside of Allen Robinson, Miller has emerged for the Bears’ offense, producing a 50 catch season despite an extremely disappointing year from Mitchell Trubisky and the Chicago Bears. Ranked ahead of Miller are receivers who have had less productive seasons while receiving passes from much better quarterbacks. Players such as Demarcus Robinson (Chiefs), Phillip Dorsett (Patriots) and Nelson Agholor (Eagles) all had less productive seasons than Miller in both catches and yards with elite quarterbacks throwing them the ball, however all three remain ranked above Miller in Madden 21.
Adjusted Rating: 78
Mitchell Trubisky- 72
While a 72 is already a fairly poor overall for any position, the Chicago Bears quarterback is still getting too generous of a rating from Madden 21. While observing the quarterback ratings, it is quite apparent Trubisky deserves to be behind more players at his position after witnessing his 2019 failure of a season. After ranking 31st in total QBR last year, Trubisky still ranks ahead of players such as Drew Lock, Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew, all whom had significantly better QBRs and surpassed Trubisky in almost every stat in a per-game basis. Chicago averaged barely over 200 passing yards a game and 29th in PPG, only ahead of some of the worst teams in the entire NFL such as Washington and Cincinnati. Trubisky’s season was somehow even worse than most people realize, and the decision to pick him number 2 overall in the 2017 draft will haunt Bears fans forever.
Adjusted Rating- 68
