Many fighting games this year have been blessed with rollback netcode. Guilty Gear fans will be happy to hear that there will be a Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator Rollback Netcode update in the near future.
The Announcement
At CEOtaku 2022, Arc System Works announced that this feature would be coming to Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator. This also includes Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2. No release date for the upcoming update has been released. Gamers can look forward to testing out this new update in public beta testing. The beta testing will be held sometime in late October, for all players who decide to opt-in for the testing.
What Is Rollback Netcode?
To put it into simple terms, rollback netcode is a feature that most if not all gamers would want their fighting games to have. Rollback netcode helps make online fighting gameplay as smooth as possible with limited lag. Gamers should think of it as playing a regular local match on the same system but online. It helps keeps online play fair and fun.
Other Rollback Titles
Throughout this year ArcSystem has been building up its library of games with rollback netcode. With the inclusion of Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator and Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2, many of their older fighting games have received the same treatment. These titles are Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Dragon Ball FighterZ. The only title that has received no information regarding rollback netcode is Granblue Fantasy: Versus.
