Spoon, an audio-only live streaming platform, and OP.GG, a statistics site for games and esports including League of Legends, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and Overwatch, are partnering to produce a weekly series called “GG no RE.” The interactive series will bring fans and professional esports athletes together for an hour each week.
About “GG no RE”
“GG no RE” is Spoon’s first venture into original programming. The platform will utilize its unique audio-only approach to provide an inclusive environment for streamers and listeners. OP.GG will help provide esports analysis–discussing top teams, strategies, and tournament performances.
“Launching the series with Spoon gives us another key touchpoint to connect with our esports community,” said Sangrak Choi, CEO of OP.GG. “The platform’s interactive format and focus on audio bridges professional athletes and the broader gaming community together to celebrate the art of the sport, engage in authentic conversations, and connect with the human being behind the keyboard.”
“It’s an exciting time for the esports community,” said Fernando Pizarro, Vice President of North America for Spoon. “We’re witnessing a huge marriage between the gaming and live streaming communities today, and there has never been a better time to invest in gamer-first content––making this a great first foray for us into original programming.”
To participate in the weekly live stream, audience members can download the Spoon app or tune into spooncast.net. From there, they can listen, chat, and engage with the show. Clint Sears is on board as producer. The writer, producer and actor is best-known for Tales of Halloween (2015), Crow’s Blood (2016) and St. Agatha (2018). Actor Ben Stillwell (Grey’s Anatomy, Teen Wolf) serves as host, with various gaming and esports peeps guest starring each week. The lineup currently includes Cody Sun, Pants Are Dragon, Kevin Hitt, Jacob Wolf and Travis Gafford. Spoon will distribute recordings anywhere podcasts are available, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
