CDL Atlanta
The Atlanta home series was quite the upset for the Chicago Huntsmen. Going into the weekend Chicago was favored to go into the finals and face off against the Atlanta FaZe; but this would not be the case. Both games on day one were hard fought as the Huntsmen did not seem to be playing up to their standards. The Toronto Ultra put up an amazing fight against Chicago where the game would come down to the last seconds in round 11 of Search and Destroy. The Minnesota Rokkr also had a good performance though they were ultimately defeated by The Huntsmen. Chicago would end day one undefeated but this streak would come to an end. The Huntsmen would go on to lose against the Florida Mutineers in an unexpected reverse sweep. The Mutineers were rallied by Preston “Prestinni” Sanderson as he was determined to prove himself in the Call of Duty League. Prestinni defeated his twin brother Alec “Acritys” Sanderson in Atlanta and would give him his first loss of the season. The Huntsmen are now back on the grind and sharpening their axes to come back from this loss.
Toronto Ultra
Hardpoint on Hackney Yard
Hackney Yard would start slow for the Huntsmen but they would pick up the slack and gain the lead. Chicago looked decent playing Harpdoint on Hackney Yard but were not dominant as they were predicted to be against the Toronto Ultra.
Search and Destroy on Piccadily
The Toronto Ultra clearly did their homework as they out performed Chicago in every way on Search and Destroy. The Ultra played an amazing game and it seemed as though the teams were switched because of how in control Toronto was during the series.
Domination on St. Petrograd
Chicago would gain a short three cap early in the game. They would hold onto B for most of the match and keep control over the Ultra. Toronto was getting kills but The Huntsmen were not letting go of their hold. Dylan “Envoy” Hannon slayed hard and would go 15-9 into the half. The Huntsmen would maintain this lead and take the map.
Hardpoint on Gun Runner
Ben “Bance” Bance on the Ultra flipped spawns early. He let Peirce “Gunless” Hillman just run past him while he was hidden which would get Toronto the foothold they needed. Chicago started playing hard though and tried to keep on top of rotations. Toronto would respond by also rotating early and slaying when needed. Toronto played some amazing Hardpoint and would hold on to the lead. Chicago just couldn’t come back as Toronto took the map.
Search and Destroy on Gun Runner
Chicago slowed it down and started playing some good tactical Search and Destroy. Seth “Scump” Abner had an amazing round two. Chicago would continue to play sound SND. Scump was fragging out and keeping Toronto at bay where he went flawless until round five. Toronto answered back and would win three rounds. Chicago had lost their hold against them. The Huntsmen regained composure and answered back to bring the game to match point. Toronto would not give up and dominated the next two rounds. Round 11, The Huntsmen needed to respond. What a nail biter, this map came down to the very last seconds. Gunless saves the Huntsmen by finishing off Bance as he was assaulting the bomb plant. What a game, Toronto played their hearts out but Chicago held on.
Minnesota Rokkr
Hardpoint on St. Petrograd
The Minnesota Rokkr start the map on the preferred side and maintained a lead against Chicago for the whole game. It seemed like the teams were switched as The Huntsmen were struggling on a mode they are usually dominant in. Chicago was crushed and would lose the map 250-107.
Search and Destroy on Gun Runner
Arcitys clutches in the first round and would carry the Huntsmen in round two. The Huntsmen were playing some decent Search and Destroy but Arcitys was slaying out and brought Chicago to a victory on the map.
Domination on Hackney Yard
Chicago starts on the preferred spawn and start to dominate early. The Rokkr though are currently undefeated in Hackney Yard. The Huntsmen gain an early lead applying pressure to A and C. Chicago would rotate whenever contested while still maintaining A and C during which Envoy goes on a tear and frags out. Envoy would then gain B as Arcitys and Matthew “FormaL” Piper lock it down and win the half. Rokkr start on the preferred spawn and gain points A and B. Minnesota begins to close the gap as they gain a small three cap. This attempt at a three cap would cost them the preferred spawn though as Chicago sets up on A and B. Minnesota would retake B but Chicago would respond by holding A and C and applying pressure. The Rokkr need to regain their spawn but again lose B to the Huntsmen. Minnesota just could not gain any traction against Chicago as the Huntsmen took the map.
Hardpoint on Gun Runner
Rokkr sets up early and takes a small lead. Chicago kept ahead of their rotations though and, starting to pull ahead. Chicago locks it down in warehouse though and take the map and the win against Minnesota.
Florida Mutineers
Hardpoint on Azhir Cave
The map started off close as the Florida Mutineers and the Chicago Huntsmen battle it out. Florida would take an early lead and maintain it for most of the map. Chicago would respond by holding Cave East and then rotating early to Soccer Field to barely squeak past as they steal the win from Florida. 250-241.
Search and Destroy on Arklov Peak
The Huntsmen start the map off with control. On round two Envoy throws one of the best grenades ever witnessed in the Call of Duty League as he kills Prestinni while he is going to plant the bomb. The Mutineers go on to tie the map up on round 6 and win another round to surpass The Huntsmen. Chicago would respond though by winning the next 3 rounds in a row taking the win on Arklov Peak.
Domination on St. Petrograd
The Huntsmen start off with an early lead but the Mutineers keep it tight and stay close on the heels of Chicago in the first half. Florida would go on to cap B and maintain a tight control over the map where Chicago could not regain the lost time. The Huntsmen begin to fall apart as the Mutineers win the map.
Hardpoint on Hackney Yard
The Mutineers start on the preferred spawn point but the Huntsmen flood in hard to the first point and gain a small lead. This lead would not last though as the both teams would be neck and neck for the first half of the map. Florida would pull away though and take the map from Chicago saving themselves from elimination.
Search and Destroy on Gun Runner
The Huntsmen and the Mutineers went back and forth for the first four rounds but the Mutineers rallied hard. Florida would go on to win four rounds in a row sealing the fate of Chicago and eliminating them from the tournament.
An Emotional End
Twin brothers Presinni and Arcitys would take to the stage after the Huntsmen’s defeat. Emotions ran high as both brothers care deeply for one another and did not want to see the other hurt. They both held back tears as Prestinni talked about how much this meant to him. Arcitys was disappointed in the way that Chicago played and vowed to play better as he was clearly emotional over their loss. The Huntsmen are now back on grind and will focus on winning their next set of matches in the Dallas home series as they will return to face the Minnesota Rokkr.
