The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. The bowl season schedule allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Texas Longhorns Prospects
Collin Johnson, WR
NFL teams looking for a big-bodied receiver need to check out Collin Johnson. He has 147 catches for 2,025 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns in his career. In 2018, Johnson has 65 receptions for 945 yards and seven touchdowns.
Johnson is a staggering 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds. His speed will come into question by NFL scouts, but he could always move to tight end (like Ricky Seals-Jones), with a few added pounds.
Projected draft range: Second round-fourth round
Lil’Jordan Humphrey, WR
Humphrey uses a good combination of size and speed to be successful. At Texas, he has 118 receptions for 1,555 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has broken out this year with 79 catches for 1,109 yards and nine touchdowns.
At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Humphrey more than meets the requirements to be an outside receiver in the NFL. Humphrey could be a player whose stock could rise once his numbers are announced at the NFL Combine.
Projected draft range: Third round-fifth round
Kris Boyd, CB
The Texas pass defense has been bad, but Boyd is one talented player in their secondary. As a Longhorn, Boyd has 168 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions, 35 passes defended, two fumble recoveries and three fumbles forced. This season, he has 50 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and 15 passes defended.
At 6-foot and 195 pounds, Boyd has solid size. He will stick out on tape, as the rest of the secondary gave up big plays, while Boyd minimized it.
Projected draft range: Third round-fifth round
Other Texas Longhorns prospects:Â OT Calvin Anderson (Fourth round-sixth round), DE Charles Omenihu (Fourth round-sixth round), DT Malcolm Roach (Fifth round-seventh round)
Georgia Bulldogs Prospects
*Cornerback Deandre Baker will sit out this bowl game to prepare for the NFL Draft. Baker is a projected first-round pick.
D’Andre Walker, LB
Walker is probable for this game with a groin injury. He has been a leader on the team with the mass exodus of talent to the pros from Georgia last season. At Georgia, he has 112 total tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, four passes defended, one fumble recovery and five forced fumbles. This season he has 45 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, three passes defended, one fumble recovery and four forced fumbles.
He is 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds, which will make him a bigger linebacker in the NFL. Walker should be selected on day two of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Projected draft range: Second round-third round
Riley Ridley, WR
Ridley has been a great target for Jake Fromm the last couple of seasons. In his career, he has 64 receptions, 954 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. For the 2018 season, he has 38 receptions for 498 yards and nine touchdowns.
At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Ridley has good size for a wide receiver. His brother Calvin has already found success in the NFL as a rookie with the Atlanta Falcons.
Projected draft range: Second round-fourth round
Jonathan Ledbetter, DE
Ledbetter has been a solid 3-4 defensive end at Georgia. While 3-4 defensive ends don’t usually produce a lot of stats, Ledbetter has 117 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in his career. As a senior, he has racked up 51 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and one sack.
He’ll need to add weight to his 6-foot-4 and 280-pound frame, but if he does he can fit in with just about any 3-4 team.
Projected draft range: Fifth round-seventh round
Other Georgia Bulldogs prospects:Â TE Isaac Nauta (Fifth round-seventh round), S J.R. Reed (Fifth round-seventh round), OG Kendal Baker (Sixth round-undrafted free agent), K Rodrigo Blankenship (Sixth round-undrafted free agent)
